BOBOSO

When a young Bobcat lived in Mexico City, on the stoop outside our home I remember finding kitties
I suppose that was when our love affair began cuz I still love me some cats as a grown ass man
It was October 17th of ‘89 when I was six, the earthquake hit and my big sis Melissa brought a kitty cat home and dubbed him Custard
I went to sleep with him beside me underneath the covers and when I awoke he was right there in the same place
Golden fur and green eyes, peaceful look upon his face
Chillin’ by the window living life at his own pace
Mr. Cootie you know that you’ll always be my ace
Now this one goes out to Biscuit, Frodo, and Petey
To Rapid Fire Rusty and Tiggy and Teeny
To Cortez and Topi
To every single cat
It’s obvious Boboso’s living cat lady status

Garfield was laughs, got Jim Davis’ autograph
Started drawing cat comics in my elementary class
and when Mr. Cootie passed me and mom both cried
I’m just happy he accepted me into his pride
So when Alex found a litter in his folks’ backyard I let a little black & white guy into my heart
He was The Wire, and now there ain’t none higher
Real calm and real stoic, almost heroic how he takes care of his little cousin the Animal with a little rub or meow, man, it’s almost intangible
When a cat shows love you know it’s sincere, with a squinting of the eyes and a scratch behind the ear
So even though they’re eating all the food and droppin’ poopoos, I can’t imagine coming home at night without you two
And when I’m cuddlin’ with my girl and my cats I’m the gladdest, cuz everybody knows I’m living cat lady status
